The Altmühlsee - a beautiful lake that invites you to swim, sail and surf. The Altmühlsee is part of a water regulation system that transfers water from the water-rich river system of the Danube catchment space under the European Principal Watershed to the water-poor Regnitz-Most important space. It is positioned below the dam of the Großer Brombachsee within the Mandlesmühle, which was abandoned when the lake was constructed, a part of the Pleinfeld market in the Center Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen (Bavaria), and has the postal tackle Mandlesmühle 1.
